A Century of the Station
Before it was the pub, it was the station.
Built in 1926, the Canadian National Railway station was an important new arrival in Kelowna.
The railway connected the city to the broader provincial and national transportation network, changing more than how people travelled. It helped open new opportunities for local industry and shifted the centre of Kelowna’s industrial life north toward the rail yards.
For decades, the station welcomed passengers, handled freight and stood at the edge of a growing city.
Today, the tracks are gone and Kelowna has grown well beyond them. But the station remains — one of the city’s most recognizable historic buildings and a tangible reminder of where Kelowna has been.
Built to last
There is a reason the building still feels distinctive a century later.
Fieldstone, stucco, brick and timber come together beneath its sweeping roofline, with the original character of the station still visible throughout. In 2025, the interior underwent a thoughtful renovation to update the space while preserving as much of its history and defining features as possible. The result is a refreshed interior that feels comfortable and current without losing the character that makes the station unique.
Designed for another era, the station has aged into something uniquely its own — a piece of Kelowna history that still feels at home in the city today.
A century gives a building time to collect stories: people arriving in Kelowna, people heading home, families, friends, workers and travellers passing through. It has stood as the city grew and changed around it, remaining a familiar part of the community through it all.
In 2026, we celebrate 100 years of the station — not simply as a historic building, but as a part of Kelowna itself. The next chapter is still being written.
Today, the building has a different kind of traffic.
The Train Station Pub has called this historic building home for 15 years, giving the old station a new reason to welcome people through its doors.
The purpose may have changed, but the spirit of the place hasn't. Where passengers once gathered before a journey, people now gather over breakfast, dinner, a cold beer or a drink at the bar.
The pub is relaxed enough for a casual lunch, lively enough for game day and comfortable enough to settle in for the evening. With good food, a well-stocked bar, sports on the screens and a patio for warmer days, the pub has become part of the everyday rhythm of downtown Kelowna.
It's a place for the everyday moments as much as the occasions worth celebrating — a neighbourhood pub with a century of history behind it.
